Brookhaven vs. Stone
The Panthers took control of their series against Stone on Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory on the road. The series will head to Brookhaven today for a game two and a possible game three.
The Panthers put up four runs in the top of the fifth inning, and that was enough for pitcher Haley Nations.
Nations went seven innings in the contest, and she only allowed two hits to Stone. She struck out 16 of the 21 required outs in the contest.
Madie Miller and Haley Nations each had two RBIs in the contest.
Loyd Star vs. Taylorsville
Loyd Star took advantage of being at home on Tuesday night, as they knocked off Taylorsville and claimed a 5-3 victory.
Aly Floyd threw well for the Hornets, only giving up two earned runs in seven innings. The Tartars were only able to muster five hits in the contest.
Loyd Star will travel to Taylorsvile tonight with the opportunity to close out the series in the first game. If Taylorsville wins the first game, the two teams will immediately play a game three.
Lawrence County vs. Northeast Jones
Lawrence County moved to 25-1 on the season when they knocked off Northeast Jones in run-rule fashion on Tuesday night 14-2.
Lawrence County will host game two of the series tonight, and if Northeast Jones was to win they’d immediately play a game three afterwards.
Enterprise-Clarke vs. Enterprise
In a low-scoring contest, Enterprise-Clarke took advantage of some Yellow Jacket mistakes and put up a run in the eighth inning to win the opening game of the series.
Carlee Nations dominated on the mound for the Lady Yellow Jackets as she went 7.1 innings and only surrendered three hits in the contest.
Enterprise will host Enterprise-Clarke today, and they’ll have to win two games to advance to the third round.
Bogue Chitto vs. St. Patrick
The Bobcats fell a run short in their opening contest of the second round against St. Patrick on Tuesday afternoon, as the Irish came out with a 3-2 victory.
Codi Leggett dominated the contest on the mound for Bogue Chitto, throwing seven innings and only surrendering one earned run.
Julianna Frazier led the Bobcats at the plate going two-for-three.
Bogue Chitto will have to win two games today at St. Patrick to advance to the third-round of the playoffs.
Wesson vs. Choctaw Central
Wesson fell 5-0 to Choctaw Central on Tuesday afternoon on the road, but the Cobras will return home today to try and take a double-header and advance to the third round of the playoffs.
The Cobras were led at the plate by Shelmbi Maxwell and Amber Brinson. Brinson went 1-3 and had a walk, and Maxwell went 2-4 in the contest.
