Enterprise takes on Enterprise on the road — Yellow Jackets head to Clarke County

Enterprise High School will travel to Enterprise-Clarke tonight to start the second round of the playoffs, with the Bulldogs holding home-field advantage.

The Yellow Jackets had a successful first-round series knocking off Pisgah behind strong pitching performances from Landon Gartman and Austin Fugler.

Gartman threw five no-hit innings against the Dragons in game one, and Fugler threw six strong innings on Saturday to push the Yellow Jackets into the second round.

Enterprise is now 16-6 on the season, and they went 9-3 within their district on the year. The Yellow Jackets are a well-rounded team, as they come into the series hitting .338 as a team with a .953 OPS. They also have a 1.79 team-ERA and a .9 WHIP (Walks and Hits Per inning)

The Yellow Jackets are led at the plate by junior Hunter Richardson who is hitting .516 on the season with a 1.12 slugging-percentage and a 1.747 OPS on the year.

Gartman is hitting .420 for the Yellow Jackets and has an OPS of 1.080, and Fugler is hitting .364 on the season with an OPS of .973.

On the mound, Gartman and Fugler do most of the work there as well. Gartman has thrown 44 innings this season and surrendered on 16 hits. He’s only walked 14 people on the year, good for a .68 WHIP. He has 89 strikeouts, and he’s averaging more than two strikeouts per inninn with a 1.43 ERA.

Fugler has thrown 37.1 innings on the year with 65 strikeouts and a 2.44 ERA. Fugler has struck out 65 on the season.

Enterprise-Clarke relies heavily on their offense to carry the load for them, as they have three regulars with OPSs of over one, and as a team hit .384 with an OPS of 1.072.

Dalton Baxley hits .571 for the Bulldogs, but he’s slugging .952 on the year, good for a 1.568 OPS.

Trey Blech is hitting .358 on the year, but has an on-base percentage of .457 and an OPS of 1.054.

John Luke Parker is hitting .358 for the Bulldogs, but is slugging .439 with a 1.072 OPS.

The Bulldogs are led on the mound by Dylan Stroud, who’s thrown 39.1 innings this season. Stroud has struck out 54 hitters on the year and boasts a 2.31 ERA.

Jeremy Pippin is the Bulldogs second option. Pipping has thrown 22.1 innings on the year and has recorded 25 strikeouts, and he has a 4.39 ERA.
