Well-known rapper among two victims in separate Jackson shooting incidents

JACKSON — Two people are dead, including a well-known rapper, in separate shootings in Jackson Sunday night and Monday morning.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart told the Clarion-Ledger newspaper that rapper Lonni Taylor, aka “Lil Lonnie,” was the victim of a shooting in the 2300 block of Montebello Drive in Jackson.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Jackson Police officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a residence. Taylor, who had been driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was also in the vehicle was uninjured.

In a separate shooting, one woman is dead and another woman was injured after they were shot during a break-in, the police told the newspaper.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. officer responded to a burglary in progress. When officers reached the scene two women ran from the house after being shot.

Ewie Williams, 57, ran to a neighbor’s house where she later died. Her daughter, who was shot in the face, is in stable condition.

The shooting suspect, who fled on foot, is reported to be a heavy-set black male.
