Bobcats swat the Yellow Jackets, 18-6

Bogue Chitto got off to a hot start in their first game of the Lincoln County spring jamboree Friday, and held on to win 18-6 against Enterprise.

Bogue Chitto’s ground attack had success, with two of their three touchdowns coming on the ground. Enterprise broke onto the scoreboard with a passing touchdown late in the contest.

“We played good,” Bogue Chitto coach Gareth Sartin said. “The kids played with a lot of emotion and energy. We threw the ball well and made some big plays with our receivers. The defense was really getting after the ball. I was pleased with the overall effort in the game.”

Bogue Chitto opened their first possession of the game going to the air and picked up positive yardage. Sticking with the aerial attack, the Bobcats moved down the field but were set back because of penalties.

The Bobcats continued to air out the football to try and gain back the penalty yardage, moving into the Yellow Jackets’ red zone. The Bobcats soon found the end zone on an 18-yard rushing touchdown.

Enterprise started their running game on the first possession and picked up positive yard, despite running into a Bobcats defensive wall.

On third down Enterprise aired the ball out, but the pass fell incomplete. On fourth down, the Bobcats fell on a mishandled snap from Enterprise.

Starting on the 35-yard line, Bogue Chitto went for it all but was unable to connect on the pass. Bogue Chitto picked up a new set of downs through the air on the next play, and they soon found the end zone for the second time on a running play.

After getting stopped on two consecutive rushing attempts, Enterprise found itself  in a third-and-long situation. The Yellow Jackets mishandled the hand-off on the third down snap but managed to fall onto the ball.

Bogue Chitto found the end zone for the third time with its first passing touchdown of the contest.

Enterprise took a shot down the field late in the contest and found the end zone for their only touchdown of the game.
