James ‘Maxie’ Phillips Jr.

Funeral services for James “Maxie” Phillips Jr., of Bogue Chitto, are Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery in Summit. Bro. Mike McKee and Bro. Huey Moak will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Friday, June 1, 2018, from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Phillips, 50, died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his family. He was born Oct. 23, 1967, in Anderson, South Carolina, to James Maxie Phillips Sr. and Molly Johnson. He was a member of Montgomery Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a project manager for Seismic Services Inc. and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, paw and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Vickie Grice Phillips; grandfather, Marvin Phillips; and fathers-in-law, Floyd Grice and Frank Henry Owens.
Survivors are his wife of five years, Julie Owens Phillips; sons, Justin Curtis Phillips, of Brookhaven, and James Coltin Phillips and wife, Hayley, of Bogue Chitto; daughters, Heather Crosby Givens and husband, Christopher, of Bogue Chitto, and Hannah Crosby, of Bogue Chitto; grandmother, Lillie Phillips, of Anderson, South Carolina; mothers-in-law, Shirley Grice and Diane Owens; sister, Janie Phillips Hughes; grandchildren, Annaliese Phillips, Brantley Phillips and Carsyn Givens; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Brad Hurt, Tim Reynolds, Mark Moore, Charlie Fairchild, Brian Williams and Tim Howell.
Honorary pallbearers are Greg McCaskell, Jerry Hart, Tommy Thomas and Gary Paul Allen.
