Monday was Memorial Day. The day we honor our veterans for the sacrifices they make. There were no flags on [Brookway] Boulevard. The flags are displayed for everything — but not our veterans. They sacrifice so we have the freedoms we enjoy. I say thank you veterans. Shame on the people responsible for displaying the flags.

Editor’s note: The Brookhaven Exchange Club places flags at the intersection of Brookway Boulevard and Hwy. 51 for patriot-themed holidays such as Memorial Day as a courtesy to the city, said President Jeremy Brown. The flags were placed in front of area businesses, but the heavy rains Friday and Saturday kept club members from placing flags along Brookway.
