ACKERMAN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities in Mississippi say a juvenile shot a man who attempted to enter a house with a hatchet.

Choctaw County Chief Deputy Lee Upchurch tells news outlets the juvenile shooter was home alone when Jerry Lee Robinson attempted to enter the house with a hatchet in his hand.

Upchurch says Robinson made an aggressive move toward the juvenile, who fired one shot at Robinson. Officers responded to the shooting on Tuesday afternoon and found Robinson with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was non-responsive and later pronounced dead.
