Funeral services for Nell Strong Speights. of Brookhaven are Friday,  June 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial at Riverwood Cemetery. Bro. Greg Warnock will officiate the services.

Visitation will be today, June 21, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Friday, June 22, 2018, from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Speights, 90, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at her residence. She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Dentville, to Liston Strong and Ettie Barker Strong. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven since 1949, the M.R.S.S. Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Business Women’s Club. She enjoyed working in her yard, walking and visiting with her neighbors and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James Litt Speights; parents; stepfather, David Alonzo Perkins; sisters, Alice Strong and Mae Kirkland; and three brothers, James Strong, Lon Strong and L. J. Strong.

Survivors are her daughter, Connie Dunn and husband David; grandchildren,

Garrett Dunn and wife Hollie Turpin Dunn, Misty Dunn and Laina Dunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank Hospice Ministries, of Brookhaven and her caregivers who have been by her side, Velmon Chatmon, Teresa Dees, Beverly Britt and Pat Newman.
