Funeral services for John Pennington, of Brookhaven, are Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Fair River Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, July 27, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Pennington, 84, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was born Feb. 9, 1934, to George McKinley Pennington and Inez Beeson Pennington. He was a retired business owner for Pennington’s Pest Control and a member of Fair River Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent for several years and served on various other committees. He loved serving the senior adults at his church, hosting a peanut boil for them every year. He was a founding member of the Fair River Hunting Club and an avid hunter. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T.J. Pennington and Bill Pennington; sisters, Yvonne Wilson, Cleo “Sis” Netherland and Tiny Killingsworth.

Survivors are his wife, Claudine Pennington; daughters, Donna Hodge (Don), Debbie Jordan (Will), Dana Wallace (Kenneth); seven grandchildren, Brady Hodge (Jessica), Bailey Hodge, Layne Jordan Xifos (Kris), Lauren Jordan, Garrett Wallace (Kaitlin), Adrienne Wallace and Kayci Beth Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Hodge, Mack Bennett Hodge and Aaryn McKinley Xifos; and a host of nieces and nephews.
