Lawrence County’s Brian Bogan will suit up for his junior year with one mission — get better.

Bogan had a strong 2017, totaling 49 tackles in the Cougars’ 3-8 season.

“I’ve worked at getting better at the things I do,” Bogan said. “I’ve helped improve my teammates and coaches.”

The defensive end’s goal for this season is a recurring statement among his teammates. That is to win games, plain and simple. Bogan feels this year’s Cougars have what it takes to do just that.

“I think this year’s team will meet all the goals we set for ourselves,” he said.

Bogan pointed to the Cougars’ second game of the year against Brookhaven as the one he’s most looking forward to.

“They’re our longtime rival,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to get the better of them.”

It didn’t happen last season, with the Cougars falling 41-14.

New head coach Jesse Anderson said he expects Bogan to do big things for the Cougars this season.

“I think he’ll have a major impact this year,” he said. “Players like Brian Bogan and Kylan Cooper. They have been lurking and waiting on their chance and opportunity.  I think they will step out and have a breakout year.”
