JACKSON — Jackson police are investigating a deadly double-shooting overnight Saturday or early Sunday.

News outlets are reporting that one man is dead and one is hospitalized after they were shot on Ridgeway Street near Fondren.

JPD spokesman Sgt. Roderick Holmes said in a release that officers responded to a shooting call and found a 36-year-old black male with a gunshot wound to lower body. Officers then found the dead body of the second man with at least gunshot wound to the upper body.

Witnesses told police that shots were heard behind the home, then shortly afterward there were shots in front of the home.

The shooting suspect is believed to be a man on foot wearing dark colored clothing, police said.
