Two members of the Brookhaven Exchange Club ride on the back of a trailer this week as they gather American flags throughout the city that were on display for Labor Day. The club puts out 350 to 400 flags in front of businesses six times a year — Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day. They also place flags representing the branches of the armed forces and a POW/MIA flag at the intersection of Brookway Boulevard and Hwy. 51 and state flags along the boulevard.
