Billie Jean Beeson Drummond

A Celebration of Life service for Billie Jean Beeson Drummond, of Lafayette, Louisiana, formerly of Brookhaven, was held Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille Funeral Home Chapel in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. Rev. Tommy Faulk officiated the services. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home chapel downtown. A short visitation continued following the services.

Mrs. Drummond, 86, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a native of Brookhaven and resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, for most of her life. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and taking care of her sister. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, J.P. “Pete” Drummond; parents, Corbit and Ella Lambert Beeson; one granddaughter, Kimberly Jean Blocker; and three siblings, Tony Beeson, Mike Beeson and Linda Herrin.

Survivors are her two daughters, Sheila Drummond Blocker and husband, John R. Blocker Jr., and Delilah Drummond Corley and husband, Richard Corley; one sister, Montiel Anette Beeson; five grandchildren, Heather Ann Blocker-Orme and husband, Kevin, John R. Blocker III and wife, Whitney, Amber Corley Quinonez and husband, Jimmy, Ashley Corley Geoffroy and husband, Sky and Amanda Corley Rabalais; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Blocker Martinez.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Drummond family to the nurses and staff of Cornerstone Village South and Hospice of Acadiana for the care and kindness during her time of need. The family would also like to give special thanks to St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson for her initial care.
