The second annual Socks for Heroes Veterans Appreciation event is set for Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Brookhaven Exchange Club Park.

Socks for Heroes is an all-volunteer organization founded five years ago to collect socks and other necessities for veterans in state homes.

The money raised Saturday will go to help veterans in state homes as well as local veterans in private nursing homes and assisted living centers.

Veterans who show their military ID will eat for free.

Armbands will be sold for unlimited rides on the midway.
