Walter Zachery Marshall Moak

Funeral services for Cpl. Walter Zachery Marshall Moak of the Brookhaven Police Department are Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Easthaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven at 11 a.m. with burial at Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto. Bro. Dan Perry and Bro. Jeff Davis will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church and will continue Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Mr. Moak, 31, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. He was born Oct. 11, 1986, in McComb, to Walter Marshall Moak and Vicki Nations Moak. He served in law-enforcement for Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Wesson Police Department and for the last three years with the Brookhaven Police Department. He gave his life in the line of duty while helping his fellow officer (fulfilling John 15:13). He was always willing to put others first as he served the community that he loved. He was a member of Wellman Baptist Church. He enjoyed junking, making crafts, computers, collecting guns, helping others in his community and spending time with his family, especially his special niece, Avery Moak. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, uncle, officer and friend.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Walter and Lottie May Moak, and Wesley and Letha Mae Nations.

Survivors are his parents; brother, Chris Moak and wife, Savanna; niece, Avery Moak; nephew, Evan Steed; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Assistant Chief Chris Case, Lt. Mike Norris, Sgt. Kevin Thompson, Deputy Jason Blake, Cpl. Dustin Hodges and Deputy Samantha Beach.

Honorary pallbearers are Lane Nations, Josh Nations, Chris Wolff, Bryan Reeves, Mike Griffith, Steven Reed, Ryan Kyzar, Tim Gerald, Keith Stogner and Lamar Williams.
