Funeral services for Mary Ellen Mahaffey, of Brookhaven, are today, Oct. 30, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial at Bogue Chitto Cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mahaffey, 68, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at her residence. She was born Feb. 23, 1950, to Julius P. Bales and Leona Virginia Phipps Bales. She loved to crochet and loved to fish. She worked for an Adolescent Center. She was also a member of Bogue Chitto Assembly of God.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, James Hux; brothers, David Bales, Walter Phipps and Zachary Bales; and sister, Jeanette Whiddon.

Survivors are her husband of 22 years, Fred Garland Mahaffey; son, Jerry Hux; brother, Freddie “Boots” Bales and James Bales; sisters, Paulette Martin, Dorothy Wallace and Katherine Furr; along with 10 grandchildren.
