Mr. Boyd, 66, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, in Tylertown. He was born May 17, 1952, to the late Clarence and Mary Hightower Boyd.
He was a plumber by trade, first working under his father-in-law, Bobby Owens at Owens Plumbing Company. Later, he took over the family business and started Kent Boyd Plumbing. They worked alongside each other for more than 46 years. He was always quick to offer a helping hand to others and often gave of his time, money, and talents in the service of others. He believed in working hard and providing for his family and he took great pride in their successes. He was a friend to many and loved to be around people. He enjoyed spending time with his best friends at “The Shed” in Salem. He loved sports, especially football and was a diehard Saints fan. He coached his two children in softball and baseball and valued those days as some of the best of his life. He will be remembered by his family as a man who came from humble beginnings and worked to provide more for his children and grandchildren than he had growing up. He taught them to be kind and generous and fair, that real love lasts forever, and that forgiveness is a gift that brings healing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Jerry and J.W. Boyd; and three sisters, Marie McCullough, Judy Walters and Mary Ethel Alexander.
