Funeral services for Samuel Greer Ashley, of Wesson, are today, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Riverwood Family in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church and will continue today, Nov. 14, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.

Mr. Ashley, 83, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at his residence. He was born Dec. 1, 1934, to the late George Frank Ashley and Julia Beasley Ashley. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening and was “famous” for his delicious tomatoes.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Greg and Sammy; four brothers; and sister-in-law, Martha.

Survivors are his wife of 62 ½ years, Juanita Ashley; T.J. Coleman, Harold Hamilton, Betty Zehnder, Gregg Zehnder, Sandra and Paul Dickerson, Ann and Stan Runyan; three grandchildren, Gage Ashley, Sara Beth Ashley and Justin Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
