Funeral services for Annie Burns Bayly, of Jackson, are today, Nov. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton.
Visitation will be today, Nov. 27, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bayly, 101, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was born in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and raised in rural Lincoln County. She was the daughter of Clifton and Annie Bacot Burns of Ruth. She was a graduate of King’s Daughter Hospital nursing school in Brookhaven. During WWII she served in the Army as a first lieutenant with the 237th General Hospital in France receiving two bronze stars. After the Army, she married Robert P. Bayly, of Biloxi, and moved to Jackson. At that time she continued working as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Jackson. Later she nursed at Hinds General Hospital where she retired in 1987. She was an active member of West Jackson Baptist Church and later Midway Baptist.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; and three sisters; husband; and her son, Robert Bayly Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Survivors are her daughter, Jane Bonner (Mike), of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Phillis Bayly, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Alcoholics, PO Box 217, Flora, MS 39071, where she volunteered for the last eighteen years.
