Lipsey Middle School went on lockdown late Monday afternoon after a nearby domestic disturbance drew a heavy police presence to the area, school officials said on social media.
The Brookhaven School District’s Facebook page said late Monday afternoon Lipsey administrators removed students from school buses waiting to go home for the day and returned them to the school, where they were placed on lockdown while Brookhaven police were contacted. The statement said the lockdown was lifted after police informed the school a domestic dispute near campus was under control and there was no danger to the students.
The statement said the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., 45 minutes after the regular school day ended.
Attempts to reach school and police officials for further comment were unsuccessful.
