Funeral services for Mary Ruth Leggett Klar, of Bogue Chitto, are Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, with burial at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Gary Bowlin will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Klar, 88, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018. “Sissy” was born June 18, 1930, to Jim and Olivia Leggett. She played basketball in high school and graduated from Co-Lin Junior College, and continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, receiving her master’s degree. She began teaching at Bogue Chitto at the age of 18 and went on to teach for 34 years. She loved children, traveling, attending church, serving in the Eastern Star and her family. After retiring from teaching, Mary served her community as a GED coach, geriatrics worker, church worker and tour guide. Later in life, she and her husband moved to Texas to be close to her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Mary was a member of Second Baptist Church. She is sorely missed.

Preceding her in death were her parents; six brothers, J.P., Cleon, T.J., Claiborne, Barney and Clifton Leggett.

Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Henry Klar; her sons, Gene Klar and wife Michelle; four grandchildren, Janine, Justin, Georgia and Jacob; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
