A graveside service for Joe Edward Panzica will be held at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb at a later date.

Mr. Panzica, 76, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport. He was born April 15, 1942, in Brookhaven, to the late Vive Panzica and Sara Belle Mullen Panzica. He graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1960 and also Louisiana State University in 1964. He was an avid Tiger fan. He was employed with the Mississippi Tax Commission for a short time before joining his father’s business, IGA Grocery in Brookhaven. He was then employed with the Mississippi Employment Security Commission in McComb and then in Gulfport, where he retired. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was married to Callie Cawley Panzica until her death.

Survivors are his beloved stepson, David Cawley; brother, Robert Panzica (Doris); stepgrandsons, Chris Cowley (Chasity), of Hattiesburg, Joe Cawley (Melissa), of Gulfport, and Robert Cawley (Rachel), of Gulfport; nephews, Richard Panzica (Becky) and Greg Panzica and Elizabeth; and numerous great-grandchildren.
