Funeral services for John Lawrence Tobias Jr. are Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Chisholm AME Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Peoples Undertaking Company in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Tobias died Friday, Feb.1, 2019, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his wife, siblings and close family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Elizabeth Tobias; grandparents, John and Lena Watkins; oldest son, Victor Ardell Tobias; granddaughter, Victoria LaKesha Tobias; and three siblings, Marie Sparkman, James Earl Tobias and Debra Black.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Ida Faye Tobias; sons, Cedra Dale and Andre’ Tramline Tobias; nine grandchildren, Makeeta Shantell (James), Lanisha Bonds, Michael Blackwell, Tevin Tobias, Annia Grace Tobias, Aja Tobias, Areuna Tobias, Eve Fells and Victor Ardell Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Kyrie Savior Spears, Kinleigh Latoria Lewis and Taleigha Tobias; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Deborah Tobias; beloved sister-in-law, Dr. Hattie Magee Myles; nine siblings, Helen Tobias of Houston, Texas, Barbara A. Tobias of Chicago, Illinois, Cassandra L. Johnson (Leroy), Keith Tobias (Patricia), Kenneth Tobias (Angela), Donald Tobias (Linda), Melvin Tobias, Delorise McEwen and Gloria Holmes (Isaac), all of Summit; and many more who love him, not all of whom can be listed here. Mr. Tobias was uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to more than can be named.
