Brookhaven Academy senior forward Cade Brown tries to keep the ball away from a Clinton Christian defender. Brown and the Cougars (25-3) play today in the finals of the MAIS District 3-AA Tournament. BA advanced to the finals to face Clinton Christian by defeating Sylva-Bay Academy 49-39 on Thursday. Dawson Flowers led the Cougars with 15 points and nine rebounds. Britton Nelson added 13 points and Sean Beard scored eight. Tanner Thurman and Brown scored six points apiece. The Lady Cougars (22-6) are also on to the district finals after whipping Sylva-Bay 63-24 on Thursday. Jana Case scored 14 points for BA. Makayla Martin added 13 points and Anne Brantley Warren chipped in 12 points. Freshman Emily Claire Felder scored nine points and fellow frosh Madison Moak chipped in eight points. BA will play Clinton Christian in the girls’ final as well. The district finals at Newton County Academy begin with the girls game at 3:30 p.m. followed by the boys championship at 4:15 p.m.
