A Brookhaven man was killed early Friday morning in Adams County, authorities said.

Adam County Coroner James Lee said 49-year-old Lanny Dwayne Case died in a one-vehicle crash on Sgt. Prentiss Drive in front of Merit Health Natchez. Lee pronounced Case dead at the scene at 1:30 a.m.

Lee said preliminary findings show the victim may have fallen asleep while driving.

“My heart goes out to his family,” he said.
