Don’t let greed spoil a good thing

I just read the article about the sale of Piggly Wiggly falling through and I have to say that it left a very sad feeling inside of me.

We will all now be forced to trudge through “the other” main grocery store here in Brookhaven and that is not a treat.

Although I do not know the specifics of the reason that the deal fell through, I gathered enough to feel that the building owner’s greed played a big part. The reason for my sadness is that this greed will be the cause of the total loss of what could be two thriving businesses in this small town.

This greed will be the cause of the blight that will be caused by these two buildings falling to disrepair and ultimately, total uselessness.

There had been such progress in the shopping strip on Hwy. 51. There have been other efforts to revitalize Brookhaven’s downtown and other aspects of business.

Things looked so much better, and now this. I certainly hope the landlord’s greed will be worth it to them as they leave their blemish on our fair town.
