Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Jean Smith will be Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home in (894 Natchez Drive) Brookhaven, MS at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the Stewart Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi. Bro. Lindeal Greer and Bro. Allen Jenkins will officiate the service.

Visitation is at Brookhaven Funeral Home Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 31, 2019, from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Smith, 66, formerly of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, passed from this life on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side.  She was born May 16, 1952, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Jim Buitt and Ruth Richardson Buitt. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.  She also loved taking care of the elderly.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Geraldine McFall; and brothers, Pearlie Buitt, Leon Buitt, Marvin Buitt, Charles Buitt and Dave Buitt; and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Survivors are her husband of 45 years, Leon Smith; sons, Matt Harris (Rachel) and Jerry Smith; daughters, Glenda Coghlan (Brian), Ginger Wittner (Vivian), Rachel Case (Tate); grandchildren, Ray Harris (Cortney), Taylor Moore, Chey Harris, Maggie Wimberly, Dylan Case, Emalyn Langley, Courtney Coghlan, Lorelai Langley, William Smith, Jake Smith, McKinley Harris and Randy Harris; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Buitt and Sylvester Buitt; sisters, Ann Caves, Nita Lusk and Martha Sanford; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; and a host of family and friends.
