Duo from Lincoln County reach Heisman finals

The Wendy’s High School Heisman aims to recognize “seniors who excel in academics and demonstrate outstanding leadership skills within their community.”

To apply, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must also participate in sports and have proven themselves as a leader at their school.

The award received 42,000 applications this year. That number pool got narrowed to 20 state finalists and Brookhaven/Lincoln County had two of those state finalists — Rials Hester of Loyd Star and Dawson Flowers of Brookhaven Academy.
