Funeral services for Elsie Horton Ashley will be Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive), Brookhaven, Mississippi, at 1 p.m. with burial to follow in the Little Bahala Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson, Mississippi. Bro. Bendon Ginn will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Ashley, 87, of Wesson, Mississippi, passed from this life on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Copiah County Medical Center in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side.  She was born on October 16, 1931, in Picayune, Mississippi, to Younger and Edelle Russell Lewis. She was a member of Little Bahala Baptist Church; worked for many years as a seamstress at Stahl Urban in Brookhaven, Mississippi; and enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables, and cooking for her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, William Dungan Sr., and Edward Ashley Sr.; son, Lance Ashley; great-grandson, Gibb Britt; and brother, Russell Horton.

Survivors are her children, Bill Dungan and wife Kathy, Eddie Ashley and wife Sharon, Charlotte Newell and husband Wayne, and Betty Ashley, all of Wesson, Mississippi; siblings, Patricia Hamilton and husband Harold, and Frank Lewis and wife Suzanne; grandchildren, Christopher Dungan and wife Megan, Cody Ashley and wife Ashley, Justen Ashley and wife Kaitlin, Zach Ashley, Stephanie Twiner, Tracy Shufelt and Mitzi Britt; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jerry Ables, Randy Earls, Cody Ashley, Justen Ashley, Chace Twiner and Timothy Byrd.
