(AP) — A body found last week in south Mississippi has been identified as a Hattiesburg woman missing since Nov. 25.
The Hattiesburg Police Department tells WDAM-TV that the state crime lab confirmed Wednesday that the body belonged to Falisa Carter.
Her decomposed remains were found last week in the woods along a Forrest County road.
Carter’s cause of death hasn’t been released.
Police arrested Carter’s boyfriend, 32-year-old Demarcus Gruder, on kidnapping charges Dec. 3. He remains jailed without bail in Forrest County. A second man, 29-year-old Timothy Evans, was charged Dec. 27 with hindering prosecution. He was arrested again March 1 and charged with accessory after the fact to kidnapping. Evans is free on bail.
Hattiesburg Police spokesman Ryan Moore says investigators are working with prosecutors on additional charges.
