BA’s Anding wins South State girls’ singles, others qualify for state

Brookhaven Academy freshman Amelia Anding won the MAIS AA South State title in No. 1 girls’ singles Tuesday in Decatur. Anding will be the top seed next week at the AA State Tournament on May 8 in Jackson.

As a team the Cougars had 12 players qualify for the state tournament as both the BA boys and girls finished as runner-up at South State. Other state tourney qualifiers include August Sullivan and Makayla Martin in mixed doubles, Mallory Nations in singles, Timmy Lin and Landon Banes in boys’ singles, Rob Johnson/Gage Brown and Tanner Thurman/Britton Nelson in boys doubles., Marian Waltman/Lucie Leblanc and Gracie Malone/Kassidy Cupit in girls’ doubles.

The Cougars are coached by Patti and Sydney Moak.
