Storms leave thousands without power across region

Strong thunderstorms pushed through the area Thursday, leaving behind downed trees and power poles.

No reports of damage in Lincoln County were received by the weather service. A tornado warning was issued for Ruth at about 12:15.

Trees were reported down in Liberty, McComb and Gloster. There were also reports of power lines down in McComb.

Entergy reported almost 6,000 customers without power in Pike County Thursday afternoon. Magnolia Electric reported more than 10,000 outages across its service area. More than 700 of those were in Lincoln County.

Magnolia Electric reported multiple broken power poles between Liberty and Holmesville, and “heavy damage” in the Hwy. 24 area between McComb and Liberty.
