The Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a shindig for its members and their families and they’re inviting anyone who is considering a spot on the membership roll.

A Member Appreciation Day Picnic is set for Thursday, June 13,  in the park across from the Chamber building from 5 to 7 p.m. Rain will move it into the Chamber.

“We wanted established members of the Chamber to always know that we care, and we wanted to see their families enjoy the picnic, but we also wanted to have a chance to visit with our newer members and meet their families, too,” said Chamber President Colby McMorris.

Besides typical picnic fare served by the Board of Directors, they’ll have live music and inflatable jumpers for the children.

McMorris said they wanted to have a fun event that’s less formal than the annual membership banquet.

“We wanted this to be more family-oriented and to focus on our community,” he said.

The Chamber serves about 300 members.

Program Director Katie Nations said the picnic serves as a “thank you” to the members.

“It’s also a great networking opportunity,” she said.

Nations is also inviting anyone who has considered membership in the Chamber to come as well and bring their families.

“If you are new to our area and want more information about the Chamber and community events, we invite you to come, too,”  she said.

Nations is asking members to RSVP for the event. Non-members are also asked to contact her to be added to the list. Call 601-833-1411 or email Katie@brookhavenchamber.com.
