Mississippi company wins Marine crane work worth up to $84M

(AP) — A Mississippi company is getting a defense contract to maintain and repair U.S. Marine Corps cranes.
The U.S. Navy announced the contract for Taylor Defense Products on Monday. The company will get up to $84 million over the next 10 years to take care of the all-terrain cranes at its Louisville factory. Taylor Defense Products is related to Taylor Machine Works, which makes forklifts and other machinery for the civilian market.
The Marine Corps says it will spend $9.7 million this year to begin work on 145 cranes. Taylor won a competition for the contract over two other companies.
The truck-mounted cranes can lift and move very heavy loads.
