A Bassfield man shot on Cade Lane Sunday night has died, authorities said.

Steven Turner, 46, was pronounced dead at University of Mississippi Medical Center at 2:53 a.m. today.

Deputies were called to a paint shop on Cade Lane for a possible shooting at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said.

On the way there, deputies spotted a vehicle at the corner of Cade Lane and Dunn Ratcliff Road that matched a description given by witnesses. A Lincoln County man was taken into custody for questioning, Rushing said. No charges have been filed at this time.

It appears the two were arguing and the disagreement led to the shooting, Rushing said.

The victim was flown to UMMC after he was shot.
