Girls Night Out organizers from the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce are getting ready to have a little fun Thursday.

Make that a lot of fun.

And they’re hoping those participating in the ninth annual event will, too.

Tickets are still available for the “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” shopping extravaganza that brings hundreds of women and girls to Brookhaven for bargains, food and fellowship from 3-9 p.m. More than 30 merchants are participating in this year’s event, said Chamber Program Director Katie Nations.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 today and Thursday until 6 p.m. at the Chamber on South Whitworth Avenue. Nations suggests those coming in from out of town for the event should call the Chamber at 601-833-1411 and purchase their tickets before arriving because supplies are limited.

“We’re on track to sell 1,000 coupon books,” she said.

Each purchase includes a ticket book with two vouchers for each participating retailer — one to be used Thursday through Saturday and another for use through the summer. There’s also a $10 meal voucher that can be used at any of the participating restaurants.

Participants will also receive a pink Girls Night Out T-shirt and free entry to an after-party at The Venue at Five Fifty from 9 to 11 p.m. There will be a DJ featured, along with refreshments. This will be the second year for the after-party, Nations said.

This year, merchants are going all out to match the theme, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and are decorating and even adding extra treats for shoppers like a snowcone stand, karaoke and a DJ, she said. Nations is appreciative of all the businesses who help make the event a success.

“There is no Girls Night Out without our merchants,” she said.

She said the community has also been supportive.

“Local shoppers have made this what it is,” she said, adding that the event is also regularly pulling in people from around the region to shop on that afternoon.
