103-mph chase leads to teen’s arrest
A Lincoln County teenager faces multiple charges after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on Jackson Liberty Road Thursday.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken into custody without incident after the crash, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. A female passenger, no age available, was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center complaining of pain, he said.
The pursuit began at 2:51 p.m. as the driver, in a Mercury passenger car, was headed east on Hwy. 84. Fortenberry said the chase reached speeds in excess of 100 mph and the pursuit continued for about six miles, turning south onto Jackson Liberty. It ended at West Lincoln Road with a minor crash in a yard.
The driver was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and later transported to the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center.
His charges include speeding — 103 mph in a 65 mph zone, reckless driving, no drivers license, no seatbelt, no insurance, disregard for traffic device, DUI other substance and felony fleeing, Fortenberry said.
