Funeral services for Mrs. Earline Newell Allen will be on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Bro. James Conley and Bro. Zach Kilpatrick will officiate the services. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Friday, June 28, from 5 until 8 p.m. and at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m.

Mrs. Allen, 83, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, with her loving family by her side.  She was born on July 29, 1935, in Lincoln County to Russell Newell and Margarite Walker Newell. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and worked for many years as a bus driver and cafeteria worker at Loyd Star High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 65 years, Aubrey S. Allen; her son, Aubrey Keith Allen; and sister, Peggy Newell Rutland.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lynn Chapman and husband Charles, Annice Crosby and husband Cecil, and Renita McDonald and husband Tony; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Allen’s name may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Diversicare of Brookhaven and King’s Daughters Medical Center, and special friend and roommate, Mrs. Elaine Smith.
