(AP) — A criminal charge has been upgraded from aggravated assault to second-degree murder after a man died from a beating in north Mississippi.

News outlets report 28-year-old Jeremy Chance Held is charged in the attack on 68-year-old Ervin Fisher.

Authorities say the attack happened June 26 at a home in the Thrasher community of Prentiss County, where the two men were living. Deputies found both men covered in blood, and Fisher was unresponsive. He died this month.

Fisher previously lived in Colbert County, Alabama, and Held previously lived in Florida, although investigators did not say where.

A judge has set Held’s bond at $500,000. Jail records do not show whether Held is represented by an attorney.
