(AP) — A police chief is promising to be transparent in the investigation of a police shooting that left one man dead.

WLOX-TV reports that Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley issued a statement Sunday saying that the department will be transparent and release information “as timely as the investigation allows.”

An officer on Thursday shot and killed 27-year-old Toussaint Diamon Sims. The department said in a press statement that Sims had led officers on a chase and displayed a handgun in a threatening manner.

The station reported that Sims’ family is asking for the body camera footage of the shooting and they don’t believe Sims was armed at the time of his death.
