James Overton Sherman, AKA “Trenchcoat” as a lot of family likes to call him, was born to Mary Ester Sherman and Richard Kenneth Sherman on Feb. 13, 1980, in Oakland, California. James went on his final journey here on Earth on Aug. 15, 2019, at 2:12 p.m. at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

James graduated from Scripps Ranch High School in California. He participated in various sports there and was on the wrestling team.

James later met Jennifer Roberts and was blessed with two beautiful children. Zakary George Sherman was born on March 18, 2005, and Lillianna Lee Sherman was born on March 16, 2007. James moved to Mississippi in 2006, where he cared for his mom until her heavenly departure in 2017.

James was an avid outdoorsman. He loved being outside, exploring nature, taking pictures of the sunrise and sunset. James loved to fish and enjoyed going to the Mississippi River every chance he got. James was a natural born survivalist. He would push his strengths to the extreme just to prove to himself that he was capable of doing it.

James held many titles. He was a son, brother, nephew, father, cousin and the best of a friend you would want to have. He loved his family and friends and his kids especially with every fiber in him. James meant a lot more to each and every one of us — more than words on this paper can describe.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Mary Ester Sherman; his grandparents, J.O. and Marguerite Warren and George and Julia Sherman; and his uncle, Robert Lee “Frog” Warren.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Zakary George Sherman; his daughter, Lillianna Lee Sherman; his parents, Richard and Barbara Sherman; his brother, Richard K. Sherman II; his uncles, George Sherman, Steve Sherman (Mary), Micheal McGrath, Larry Warren (Lynn), John David Warren and Jesse Warren (Mavis); his aunts, Jewel Johnson and Alma Jean Laird (James), his cousins and all his friends and family not listed; and special friends, Duffy and Doug Harveston, Ruby, Kurt and Kelsey Wallace and Jim and Debbie Stewart.

Memorial services will be held at Brookhaven Church of God, Aug. 24, 2019, in the fellowship hall from 3 until 7 p.m. All family and friends are welcomed.
