(AP) — A south Mississippi teenager has been sentenced to 35 years in prison following his conviction of second-degree murder in a 2016 slaying.

Police found 16-year-old Nigel Poole lying in the grass with two gunshot wounds to his face in January 2016.

The Sun Herald reports that 19-year-old Kobe Augustine was sentenced last week after a jury had convicted him of the charge in August.
