Panthers back at home to face Wingfield
After three straight trips to play two games in Jones County, including a game Monday at Laurel that was moved due to weather, the Brookhaven High Panthers (1-5) are finally back on King Field Friday night. Region 3-5A play resumes for coach Tucker Peavey and his team as they try for their first divisional win against Wingfield.
Wingfield (1-6) had an eye-opening win last week as they picked up their first victory of the season with a 28-6 win over Natchez (3-3). The Falcons never trailed the Bulldogs in a home win for Wingfield.
The win over Natchez broke a 21-game losing streak for Wingfield.
Last season BHS beat Wingfield 35-21 at home. In their Monday night makeup against Laurel BHS trailed 15-6 at halftime before the Golden Tornadoes pulled away for a 29-6 win.
Ole Brook will also be back at home next week when they host South Jones for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
