Flash flooding likely Friday and Saturday
Southwest Mississippi will be under a flash flood watch Friday morning through Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Jackson said a slow moving storm system will lead to periods of heavy rainfall Friday morning through Saturday afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches will be common with locally higher amounts possible. These amounts over relatively short periods of time will likely cause some flash flooding.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
