Lady Cobras are Region 7-2A XC champs

The Wesson Lady Cobra cross-country team — under the direction of coach Vance Windom —took first place in the Region 7-2A last week at Choctaw Trails.

Senior Natalie Bonds finished second overall in the race with a time of 25 minutes and 50 seconds. Seventh grader Tiara Tronstad (26:39) was the fifth overall finisher. Sophomore Alayna Westrope finished in sixth place and her sophomore teammates Hanna Meredith was the seventh-place finisher.

Also running for the Lady Cobras were Vivian McRee, Tess Holley, Courtney Carr, Shelbi Maxwell, Jessie Cole, Raqual Tronstad, Makenze Martin, Mara Norwood, Rachel Anderson, Olivia Clark, Larsen Carpenter and Diamond Catchings.

On the boys’ side the Cobras were led by a seventh-place finish from sophomore Logan Hux (21:21).

Turner Green, Iane Westrope, Coleman Bonds, Sam Kirton, Brandon Gladon, Zack Woods, Ben McKenzie, Christian Marin, Brett Boutwell, Cody Brown, and Ayden Carraway also competed for the Cobras.

The MHSAA 2A state meet takes place Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
