The Wesson Cobras (7-4, 5-0) finished Region 7-2A play Friday night with a 41-7 win over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets (1-10, 0-5) on Harry Cole Field. The win gave Wesson a perfect region record as they move on to host a playoff game on Friday.

An Orlando Smith rushing score put Wesson up 7-0 in the first quarter. The Cobras would then recover the onside kick and freshman quarterback Will Loy connected with Chris Davis for a 22-yad passing score to give Wesson a 13-0 lead.

Loy would also throw a touchdown pass to Orlando Smith in the first quarter.

Trailing 27-0 in the second quarter, Enterprise got on the board with 20-yard scoring pass from Lawson Chemin to sophomore Tre Baker.

Wesson responded with another Orlando Smith rushing score to take a 34-7 halftime lead. A Loy to Terrance Haley 18-yard touchdown pass was the final Cobra score of the night.

“Good win for us,” said Wesson head coach Jeremy Loy. “We had to overcome a little adversity this week as a team and the coaching staff focused on that. I thought we did a good job of overcoming it tonight and getting the job done on the field. We just have to continue playing well and stay focused. We are excited to be hosting a playoff game for the first time in a long-time next week.”

The Cobras will host the North Forrest Eagles (3-8) Friday night in Stone Stadium in a MHSAA 2A opening round game.
