Panthers see season end at Picayune
The top ranked team in 5A, the Picayune Maroon Tide (12-0) were too much for the Brookhaven High Panthers to handle Friday night in Pearl River County as the home standing Tide took a 49-10 win over BHS.
Ole Brook only trailed 13-7 after the first quarter as a rushing touchdown by sophomore quarterback Dre Ross put the Panthers on the board.
The stout Picayune defense wouldn’t surrender another TD though as BHS was only able to add a 21-yard field goal by Trace Brady in the second quarter.
Picayune led 35-10 at halftime.
Coach Tucker Peavey’s Panthers end their season at 5-7 while Picayune moves on to play Laurel next week in the second round.
