Funeral services for Jerome Lofton will be on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, Mississippi, at 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Chad Yarborough, Bro. James Hunsucker and Bro. Tim Allred will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Lofton, 81, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on Sept. 7, 1938, in Lincoln County, Mississippi, to Troy Lofton and Laura Jane Cannon Brown. He was a member and a deacon of Friendship Baptist Church; worked for many years in oil field construction and then as a logger; and enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Louise Lofton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie and Edna Smith; granddaughter, Abby Lane Lofton; and son-in-law, Barry Reid.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Willie Faye Smith Lofton; children, Vicky Lofton Smith (Tim), Greg Lofton and Steve Lofton (Charmaine) all of Brookhaven, Mississippi; siblings, Ellen Wallace, Douglas Lofton (Iva Pearl), Patsy Wallace (Milton), Janice Addison (Donald), Marcia Kay Allred (Glen), Connie Porter (Ricky), Ken Lofton (Betty) and Butch Lofton (Shonna); grandchildren, Bradley Reid (Allison), Bethany Fortenberry (Trey), Stephany Lowe (Micah), Sarah Sones (Jesse), Will Lofton (Kelli), Daniel Lofton (Memory), Anna Lofton (fiancé, Nick Kesler), Kimberly Hataway (Tommy), Jeremy Smith (Dawn) and Chad Smith;  17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Bradley Reid, Will Lofton, Daniel Lofton, Trey Fortenberry, Micah Lowe, Jesse Sones, Nick Kesler and Jeremy Smith. Honorary pallbearer is Chad Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Ministries.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Lofton’s name to Hospice Ministries Inc., 397 Brookhaven St, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
