Brookhaven native Ross chosen to lead Bears golf

Southwest Mississippi Community College has named former NJCAA Coach of the Year Ronny Ross as the head coach of its newly-restored men’s golf team.

The team will being play in the fall of 2020 with Quail Hollow Golf Club at Percy Quin State Park serving as its home course. Ross has served as the director of golf operations at Quail Hollow Golf Club since August 2018.

A native of Brookhaven, Ross previously served as head coach for the golf team at Copiah-Lincoln Community College for almost 20 years. During that time, he was named the MACJC Coach of the Year five times in addition to his national award and also won the Eaton Golf Pride Regional Coach of the Year award.

Ross has served as president of the Mississippi Junior Golf Association (2006-09) and is a 26-year member of the Professional Golfers Association.

A 1992 graduate of Mississippi State University, Ross holds a BBA degree with a major of Marketing-Professional Golf Management.
