William “Bill” Barksdale, 70, of Brookhaven, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 8, 2019, surrounded by family at his residence.

Bill was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi, on Dec. 1, 1949, to Walter Rankin Barksdale and Lynelle Young Barksdale. He was an avid golfer and loved all things Mississippi State, especially their athletic programs. Bill was a member of Fair River Baptist church in Brookhaven.

Survivors are his wife, Dianne Harris Barksdale; children, Emily B. Ferguson (Wesley), Kristi Tullos, and Shane Tullos; grandchildren, Tate Ferguson and Hayes Ferguson; brothers, Walter “Kin” Barksdale, Wayne Barksdale (Kendra) and Wayne Barksdale; sister, Wendy Moore (Jerry); as well as eight nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, William Thaddeus Barksdale.

Visitation for Mr. Barksdale was held on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi. Funeral service began at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home followed by burial at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
